Police arrested Nitto Shahadat, wife of National Cricket Team player Shahadat Hossain, at Pabna Lane at Malibagh in the capital early Sunday in connection with a case for torturing a housemaid, reports UNB.
Officer-in-charge of Mirpur Model Police Station Bhuiyan Mahabub Hasan confirmed this.
Earlier, Mahfuza Akhter Happy, 11, the housemaid of Shahadat’s residence, was found lying injured on a road in Sangbadik Colony area at Pallabi of the city.
Happy claimed that Shahdat Hossain and his wife tortured her.
Following the incident, on September 7, a journalist named Mojammel Hossain filed a case against Shahadat and her wife Nitto with Mirpur Model Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act - 2000.
